Our Policy

Glaxo Hoad Hill Harriers is run by UK Athletics qualified coaches. All coaching staff are DBS checked to protect the welfare of the club's members. The aim of the over 15's junior section is to encourage a fit and healthy life style that can endure into, and through, their adult life. The club aims to provide opportunities for younger athletes to compete with other athletes from within their peer group. Our objective is to ensure that all athletes have fun, compete to the best of their abilities and in the spirit of good sportsmanship.

What do Hoad Hill Harriers Over 15's do?

Glaxo Hoad Hill Harriers' is predominantly a running club. Our coaches offer a varied programme of training focussing primarily on developing fitness and improving running ability. Our core training sessions involve warm-ups, and sprint drill training to improve running technique, and a variety of interval running, and competition training.

The Monday night session is a social run, up to distances of 6 - 7 miles. We currently have two speed groups. Distance and pace for the younger runners can be tailored to suit their ability.

We usually have 2 groups each Thursday run by our qualified coaches. They follow a variety of 'rep' sessions, designed to develop strength, stamina and speed. The sessions are developed to suit the ability of the group, and also cater for ranges of ability within the group.

Our coaches have developed a varied programme of activities that run throughout the year.

Glaxo Hoad Hill Harriers are members of the Mid-Lancs Cross Country league and we encourage our Juniors to take part, and arrange for coaching staff to support junior runners at cross country events.

We also run a number of club events throughout the year, which include junior competition races.
