From the months of October to March, due to the darker nights, our Monday night club sessions start from GSK Sports and Social Club. Parking is available for those who require it, as well as toilets, changing rooms and showers.
For those who wish to attend our circuit training session, it takes place in the Sports Hall at 6:10pm, finishing at 6:40pm. Cost at the moment is only £1.
We have three groups of runners going out on Monday nights, meeting from 6.45 and leaving at 7pm. Covering 4-8 miles, the fast group averages 9-minute miling, the medium group with catch-up stops, (10-minute miling) and the slower groups (11/12 minute miling) covering 4 to 6 miles
If you are not up to covering 6 miles at any pace, we can easily organise something to cater for your requirements. Currently, a slow group is organised, covering 3 - 4 miles. We will always make sure new runners have company and run at a pace and distance they are happy with.
These social runs are led by run leaders, coaches and volunteers, on roads. pavements and lanes around the Ulverston area, always starting and returning to the clubhouse. It is essential a high viz bib/clothing is worn as well as a head torch.
For health and safety reasons, In Case of an Emergency (ICE), we would like you to have an emergency contact name and contact number with you. Please see more detailed information below.
Once we lose the dark nights, many of the runs explore the local Furness area, tackling off road sections, through fields, woods, beaches etc. Starting from different locations, the distances vary depending on the terrain but tend to be shorter. Information about the meeting venue is announced weekly on our club Facebook group site. If required, car sharing can be organised and lifts provided for those who don’t drive. Off road trainers or old trainers are advisable.
On the first Monday of each month, the summer runs start at the Sports Club. These nights will be confirmed on our Facebook page. There are no circuit training sessions during the summer months.
Thursday night is rep. sessions run by coaches, starting at 7:00 at the clubhouse. There are two groups, one for the faster runners, and another for the rest, although several runners swap groups depending on what the session entails. New runners are always catered for, and we can tailor the session to suite their current fitness/running ability.
During the darker winter months, the groups run from the club to train in various lit areas close by, like Siemens Industrial Estate, GSK Memorial Gardens or Ford Park. Many members run from home to the venues and meet the groups there. The locations and activity for each session are always posted weekly on our club Facebook page.
These structured sessions focus on improving strength, stamina, speed and endurance. At times they are aimed at those members participating in local 5k,10 k races and cross country which the club attends en masse.
Head torches and high Viz clothing is essential for these sessions.
Hoad Hill Harriers want you to be safe whilst out running or participating in club sessions. Discussed at a committee meeting recently, the club is promoting the use of an ICE card (In Case or Emergency Card), to be worn or carried at club sessions.

Many of you may already have ICE wristbands or lace tags promoted and sold via Parkrun. If you wish to purchase either, the link below will take you to the Parkrun merchandise site. The shoelace tags are £5.00 for 3, the wristbands are £20.
